Manatee Literacy celebrates learning at “Party in the Park” 

On January 13, 2024, the Manatee Literacy Council hosted a heartwarming and joyful event, “Party in the Park,” at G.T. Bray Park. The event brought together learners, volunteers, and community members for a day filled with camaraderie, celebration, and appreciation for literacy. 

The heart of the event was the gathering of learners and volunteers who make the Manatee Literacy Council’s mission come alive. Learners, who have been working diligently to improve their literacy skills, were celebrated for their dedication and progress. Volunteers, including tutors and mentors, were honored for their invaluable contributions to the organization.

A special acknowledgment goes to Terri Myers and her remarkable team of learners who spearheaded the planning of the event. Their creativity, passion, and attention to detail ensured that Party in the Park was a memorable experience for everyone involved. 

No celebration is complete without delicious food, and Party in the Park delivered on that front as well. Attendees brought an array of tasty dishes, adding a culinary delight to the festivities. Sharing meals and stories created a sense of community bonding, reinforcing the idea that literacy is not just about reading and writing but also about connecting with others.

Party in the Park at G.T. Bray was more than just an event; it was a celebration of literacy, community, and the collective effort to empower individuals towards independence. The Manatee Literacy Council continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of adult residents in Manatee County.
