The Manatee Literacy Council (MLC) is proud to announce it has been awarded an $80,000 grant from the Bishop-Parker Foundation. This funding will directly support the salaries of MLC’s dedicated staff, enabling the organization to continue empowering adults in Manatee County through literacy education.
“This funding is a vital boost for our organization,” said Michelle Desveaux McLean, Executive Director of Manatee Literacy Council. “It allows us to sustain and grow the programs that change lives through literacy, ensuring our team can focus on delivering impactful education. We are profoundly grateful to the Bishop-Parker Foundation for their belief in our mission and the transformative power of literacy.”
Since its founding, MLC has worked tirelessly to help adults improve their reading, writing, and English language skills, opening doors to better jobs, greater independence, and enriched lives. With a small but dedicated team, MLC coordinates personalized tutoring, group classes, and specialized programs tailored to meet the unique needs of learners. The Bishop-Parker Foundation’s support will enable MLC to maintain the staffing resources necessary to manage and grow these programs, ensuring more individuals have the opportunity to achieve their goals.
The Bishop-Parker Foundation is renowned for supporting initiatives that strengthen the Manatee County community. This latest grant reflects their belief in education as a cornerstone of opportunity and underscores their commitment to helping organizations like MLC thrive.
