Manatee Literacy Council Welcomes Sam Skogstad III to the Board of Directors

 Manatee Literacy Council is excited to announce that Sam Skogstad III has joined its board of directors.

Skogstad brings a wealth of international experience and language expertise to the organization’s mission. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, he currently teaches English as a Second Language (ESOL). He has spent 25 years in the fresh produce industry, working in sales, procurement, and journalism. He previously served as editor of the Caribbean Basin Profile and Americafruit magazine.

Skogstad has lived in Chile, Costa Rica, and Honduras, and has traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe, an international perspective that reflects the diverse communities Manatee Literacy Council serves across Manatee County.

“I’m excited to contribute to expanding literacy in Manatee County,” said Skogstad.

Skogstad is the father of Ashley and grandfather to two grandsons, who live in Miami.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sam to our board,” said Michelle Desveaux McLean, Executive Director of Manatee Literacy Council. “His language skills, cross-cultural experience, and passion for education make him an invaluable addition as we work to expand literacy access across our community.”
