The Manatee Literacy Council (MLC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marisol Garcia to its Board of Directors. Marisol brings a wealth of nonprofit leadership experience, specializing in programming for vulnerable populations, resource development, grant administration, and evaluation across public service sectors.
A Manatee County native, Ms. Garcia has built a respected career advancing strategic, target-universalist outreach initiatives and strengthening community outcomes. Her work is rooted in evidence-based program design, impact measurement, and fostering collaborative partnerships that drive meaningful and sustainable progress.
Garcia has supported several local initiatives, including serving as Executive Director of Kim’s Krew and as a member of the Manatee County Food Security Network Steering Committee. Her dedication to community well-being reflects both her professional expertise and her personal commitment to the region she calls home.
Garcia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of South Florida, as well as a Master’s in Public Administration and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from the University of Central Florida.
As the child of immigrants, Garcia shares a deep connection to the mission of the Manatee Literacy Council. She is passionate about expanding equitable access to learning, strengthening community capacity, and supporting adult learners in their pursuit of independence through literacy.

The Manatee Literacy Council continues to expand its services and partnerships as it works toward improving literacy outcomes for adults across Manatee County. Ms. Garcia’s leadership will play a key role in supporting this important work. The Board and Staff are thrilled to have her on our team!

The Manatee Literacy Council empowers adult learners in Manatee County to achieve independence through literacy. Through free English language classes, tutoring, and community-based learning programs, MLC supports hundreds of adults each year in strengthening their reading, writing, and English communication skills.
