Welcoming Our New Board Member, Janelle

Janelle brings a unique blend of creativity, community spirit, and a passion for learning to our organization. Currently the Bakery Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, she is not only a skilled culinary professional but also a dedicated advocate for education and personal growth. She completed culinary schooling in Orlando and gained experience working in pastry at Disney. She recently received a Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Florida in 2024. Her journey with adult literacy began during an internship with the Literacy Council of Sarasota and MLC, where she supported our mission by tutoring students, assisting with events, and diving into the day-to-day operations and software systems that help power our work. That hands-on experience ignited her interest in literacy and nonprofit service—and we’re grateful that it led her back to us in this new leadership capacity. While this is Janelle’s first time serving on a board, her strong organizational skills, familiarity with software tools, and her experience in education, event coordination, and communication will make her a valuable asset. She’s eager to learn, ready to contribute, and committed to helping us expand the reach and impact of our programs.
